Arp's Crypto Digest

General Digital Asset Market View:

Over the last week spanning the year-end into the first trading days of 2026, Bitcoin saw a notable shift in ETF flows and market tone. After a period of heavy outflows in mid-late December that extended across the holiday season, U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs reversed course on Jan 2 with substantial net inflows of roughly $460–$470 million, marking the largest daily demand in several weeks and signalling renewed institutional interest as the new year began. This inflow helped Bitcoin reclaim levels around $90,000, suggesting that some investors who trimmed positions for tax-loss reasons in December were re-entering exposure via ETFs. Despite the previous drawdowns and cautious sentiment through late December, this ETF reversal provided a positive catalyst for price and showed that flow dynamics can swing quickly around year-end rebalancing and macro positioning.

Macro:

The US jobs report will be the main economic release next week, with other US data including the ISM indices and consumer sentiment. Elsewhere, the focus will be on inflation in Europe and China, whilst wage data is due in Japan.
